Debbie has been with Venable over 30 years and has held a variety of positions within the firm. Prior to becoming the Director of Administration for Baltimore, she managed the firm’s Northern Virginia office. Debbie is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Baltimore office, including strategic and operational planning, overseeing the management of workflow, supervision and development of staff, development and monitoring of expense budget, space planning management, and directing all administrative services functions for the office. Debbie also participated in the opening of the firm’s LA, Annapolis, Maryland and Wilmington, Delaware offices.

Venable also represents clients on municipal and tax-exempt finance and tax compliance. Clients include Fortune 100 corporations, entrepreneurs, family businesses, venture capitalists, underwriters, investors, state and local governments, and nonprofit organizations – including healthcare and educational institutions.
Government and regulatory affairs
Venable advises clients on legislative, government contract, regulatory, civil and criminal matters before state and federal authorities. Venable works with officials from the Departments of Agriculture, Energy, Defense, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, Justice, Treasury, and Transportation. It also works closely with the EPA, FTC, FCC, Postal Regulatory Commission, US Postal Service, FDA, Consumer Product Safety Commission, OSHA, US Patent and Trademark Office, the Federal Reserve Board and other financial services regulatory agencies. It offers a full complement of support, including political analysis, issue management, direct advocacy, and preparation of draft legislation, congressional testimony, and committee report language.
Venable’s litigation practice handles virtually all areas of civil and criminal law plus bet-the-company litigation. It advises Fortune 500 companies on matters ranging from class action defense to internal investigations. Venable handles major areas of litigation including appellate, products liability and toxic torts, commercial disputes, labor and employment, antitrust, construction, IP, class action, and SEC and white-collar defense. Venable’s many former federal prosecutors have experience conducting internal investigations and representing clients in administrative and grand jury investigations.
Technology and intellectual property
Venable’s IP attorneys focus on patent, trade mark, copyright, trade secret, antitrust and unfair competition. It advises clients on domestic and foreign patents, trade marks, and copyrights. Venable also negotiates and drafts domestic and international licenses, joint venture and technology transfer agreements, and research contracts. The firm represents clients before the International Trade Commission and enforce and defend IP claims across the country.
